Alexandra Levits Water Cooler Wisdom The Pros and Cons of International Entrepreneurship

Alexandra Levit's Water Cooler Wisdom The Pros and Cons of International Entrepreneurship In an increasingly global world, the advantages of international trade can give your business a substantial boost. According to Abhi Golhar, serial entrepreneur and co-founder ofNurse Practitioners Clinical Rotations, chief among the advantages of international trade are market-risk diversification and less competition. “If there happen to be increasing regulations in the business owners home country that may inhibit the sale of the businesss widgets, identifying other markets with less regulation could be vital for the longevity of the business, Golharsays. “Also, the business owner may find that by expanding into a different market, there may be fewer competitors, which can result in higher profit margins and more business volume. Added to the advantages of international trade are lower production costs. Business owners should consider international trade when the cost of labor or products they can source locally negatively impacts their bottom line, says Scott Kacmarski, CEO of business process outsourcing companyReps Direct. Additionally, becoming proficient in international trade in the early stages of your business can help you avoid prohibitively high costs down the lineâ€"anotherperk of expanding globally. “Thecostof one product or service may seem like a small issue at the beginning, Kacmarski says. “The problem comes when you have many products or employees. High costs then lead tocash-flowproblems, and its harder to go international once your business is more mature and operating at a larger scale. International Trade Has Its Downside Of course, there aredisadvantages of international tradeas well. For one, if you dont have what Golhar calls“boots on the ground, it could increase your probability of failure. “When my father opened a business in his hometown in India, his brotherâ€"who he trusted completelyâ€"assisted him, he says. Without a partner with an established track record and contacts, international trade can be enormously difficult. To read more, check out the full piece on the AMEX OPENForum. .

Executive Resume Writing Service in 2020

Executive Resume Writing Service in 2020Looking for a good Executive Resume Writing Service in 2020? It may be difficult to find one.Businesses are flooded with job openings for a variety of different reasons. Many of the positions advertised do not actually exist, and those that do offer very low pay, often nothing at all. People also receive offers of jobs without any obligations.A potential employer does not need to ask for a resume in order to contact an applicant. This is not a problem, however, because the applicant can provide the resume by email. This is the fastest way to submit a resume, but it is also the most sensitive to the accuracy of the information contained on the resume.Today's job market is demanding more than a 'good' resume to be hired. It is necessary to have every detail of an applicant's life verified through email. The applicant must be accurate and timely in communicating every detail. Otherwise, he or she will be cut from the resume list. Not only does the resume need to be accurate, but it needs to be timely as well. Many people try to write a resume ahead of time in order to make sure they have all the details to share on their application. This is fine, but the person should never submit his or her resume early. In the very important time frame that a potential employer wants to interview a person, they should contact the applicant. There is no time to waste when an offer is available. In fact, they should be contacted before the interview so that everything on the resume will be clear to the hiring company. When looking for an executive resume writing service in 2020, the one with the best track record of success is the one who provides customer service. It is not just the actual writer of the resume that can determine how good the candidate is. The selection of a potential employee is made based on the candidate's ability to communicate their knowledge of an industry in a clear and concise manner. When this type of care customer ser vice is given, the candidate is more likely to be selected. Customer service is the focus of all professional writers. While it is helpful to know when the service has received a call, it is also important to know when the company has received an application, and then what it did to improve the chances of getting an interview for the job.

Your Greatest Strength is Also Your Weakness

Your Greatest Strength is Also Your Weakness Two of the most dreaded questions in interviewing are dreaded for good reason. “What is your greatest strength?” and “What is your greatest weakness?” are mirror image questions that drive jobseekers crazy. (For the record, they drive most recruiters crazy, too; they would love to hear the real answers, but never get more than tired clichés in return.) We are perpetually perplexed by these mirror image questions because they are not mirror images at all â€" they’re the same question. Your greatest strength is your greatest weakness. Have you noticed that your meticulous attention to detail makes it hard for you to finish anything on time because your perfectionism turns you into a bottleneck on projects? Your empathy and deep connection to the people you work with makes it hard for you to make tough decisions as a manager. Your admirable persistence in the face of obstacles makes you stubborn and resistant to change. Your quick mind makes you interrupt people as they try to form their thoughts. You get the idea. It’s hard to change these qualities in ourselves, even when they no longer serve us well, even when they are actually hurting our career. We treasure our strengths because they make us unique; they make us look good.   Until they don’t. We are continually advised to play to our strengths. And most successful people know their weaknesses (or the more progressive term, “growth areas”) well. But when your strengths take over and you don’t have a way to balance them, you can wind up, as coach Susan Biali wrote for Psychology Today about a client, “as though [your strengths are] dragging you around by your hair to the point where you feel lost and worn out.” So what are the warning signs that your strength is becoming a liability for your career? People are starting to mention that “you always” react the same way. Consistent behavior is a good thing, but when people can predict your go-to reaction, no matter the circumstances, they may start working around you. I know a “big picture” manager whose subordinate stopped bringing her critical report data, “because I know you never want to dig into the numbers.” Be sure that the mode you use to examine or solve a problem is the right mode for this situation, and not just your knee jerk reaction. You notice that you are typecast into the same kinds of assignments over and over.   When your boss or your team asks you to do the same kind of work because “we know it’s your thing,” you may be perceived as not having enough range to do more challenging work. Staying in your comfort zone is well, comfortable, but it’s not going to position you for growth or promotions. Be sure you use your full range of skills, even if it means your performance isn’t guaranteed. Uncertainty means you’re growing. You haven’t made a mistake lately. When was the last time you struggled on a project? If your outcomes seem to flow easily, it may be because you’re not challenging yourself.   (Or because you’re only getting projects that are safely in your range; see above.) Learning to overcome weaknesses is hard, and learning to overcome strengths is even harder. And even more important. “Everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while youre climbing it.” ?  Andy Rooney

Hate Networking Up Your Game.

Hate Networking Up Your Game. You apply to job listings and dont get an interview. You call on hopeful leads, but they vanish. Youre working hard, but you cant seem to find the door to your bright future. Those statements are paraphrased from David Bradfords book,  Up Your Game: 6 Timeless Principles for Networking Your Way To The Top.   If you shiver or gag when networking is mentioned, youll love this book. Basically, its the antithesis of networking as you know it. Known as the Bottlecap Kid a nickname acquired from a valuable childhood experience he shares Bradford is currently the Executive Chairman of HireVue, and previously served as Chairman CEO of Fusion-io. His definition of networking is perhaps the best I’ve seen: “Networking, simply stated, is doing everything you can on a regular basis to secure and expand your personal relationships in order to increase the likelihood for success â€" your own success and the success of others.” And he has the stats to back up his statement, with a LinkedIn network that gives him access to over 30 million people directly or through a connection. Add in Facebook, Yahoo, and Google+ and there’s another 17,000 direct connections. Great, you say. But does he actually interact with those people? Yep. Because theyre all organized into categories for easier access when he has industry-specific info to share, a golf foursome to complete, or an executive-level job opening to fill. And even though he is a fan of the efficiency of todays social media tools, he states, “Remember this important point: These social media tools are only methods of connecting with people. It is the people that matter, not the tools.” “Business is all about connecting, Bradford tells us. The more you connect, the more efficiently you connect; and the more credibly you connect, the more success you will have.” Of course, the first thing I wanted to know was how he became so committed to building such an voluminous  network. During law school, he suffered a harsh lesson, discovering that good grades were only part of the formula to securing a valuable clerkship. The real key? Connections. After bulldozing his way into a SoCal law office and creating a clerkship opportunity, he immediately began  making connections. And every step of the way he remembered that networking is all about giving  before receiving. Woven in between actionable steps on how to develop social capital and grow your network, Bradford shares lessons and stories from his impressive career. Sharing impressive outcomes that we might otherwise  incorrectly attribute to  luck, Bradford provides step-by-step breakdowns of how specific actions of thoughtfulness have led to pivotal moments and opportunities in his life. You don’t form valuable, long-term relationships with people like Steve Young, Eric Schmidt, Mitt Romney, Steve Wozniak, and Larry King without a genuine investment of time and purpose. The book’s forward â€" written by Larry Shawn King â€" effectively sets the stage for Bradford’s message that successful networking requires an authentic, sincere interest in people. King also states that the book “will be of great value to people trying to advance their careers, regardless of where they are in their journey.” I fully agree. Some years ago, once I shifted my thinking from networking to helping friends and acquaintances, my connections grew and grew. Now, Im regularly contacted about side projects and job opportunities, even though I regularly express that my plate is full and Im happy in my current position. Who knew? Well, David Bradford, for one. So if youre looking to  increase your  likelihood for success â€" as well as  the success of others be sure to check out  Up Your Game: 6 Timeless Principles for Networking Your Way To The Top. Maybe you should even send a copy to a colleague. After all, thatd be a thoughtful sincere move on your part, wouldnt it?
